I am just putting together the information foe the one on one coaching program that will be release soon.

There are 8 lessons in running an online business that came up that I wanted to share while doing this program (there is a lot more)

Lessons 1 – Only Learn From Those Who Have Achieved Success

There is a saying, those who cannot do, teach. Often many people who teach online marketing know this stuff well, however dont make money outside training. Why do I train, for fun and it helps me learn. 99% of by 2011 income so far is from running online business’s, not this site or courses.

Lesson #2 – Focus on one website or online business at a time in the stage of building this business. I have tried juggling projects and it was a great way not to succeed. If you dont have one, try not to balance more and hope for the best. Have one solid business you are working on and keep at it for 3-4 months minimum before you do anything else. In2011 I had one new business I focused on.

Lesson #3 – Systems and outsource are a must.

This is soo important, learning about them is amazing. You can do everything, however if you want to grow, you must surround yourself with super cool team and put in strong systems

Lesson #4 – Your business should be designed so you do not have to work when you Travel.

Unless you like working while you travel, I dont. I did it back in the day, when I visited family and worked, however I got a good team. If you have to work while you travel, in my opinion that is not a vacation. Clearly define this before you travel

Lesson #5 – Build a strong team.

I touched on this already, however team includes accountant, coaches, mastermind and people who work for you. Surround yourself with people who have done it, not people who think they know. I got friends like that and they are good for ideas, but experienced people is who you want.

I had an accountant and my business out grew, it ended up costing me alot more in taxes. Was I happy, NO. I learned and now hired someone who can handle what I want to do.

Lesson #6 – Always be learning

If you are reading this, you likely are doing this already. We are life long learners. It is important to keep learning. I was at a marketing course ($2,000 admission), someone asks, well if you already got a business running, why are you here.

I am always learning and interested in new ways on how to work on my business. I suggest you do as well

Lesson #7 Taking action gets you rewards.

Reading this blog post is nice and thank you, I appreciate it. Leave comments below. However putting it into action is where the real rewards are. How much time are you spending reading and course after course and making action. The real reward is in taking action.

Lesson #8 – Value your time

When you do internet marketing, it is hard, you will do a lot of work and much will fail. Failure is a learning experience. Everything you do should be value for your time.

Find what works first -

If its repetitive, outsource it

If it can be programmed, do it

I am doing a coaching program coming up (access now it only to my list, not general public) and it is trading time for money and what I am charging is very low vs working on other projects. If you have asked me to coach, I would say I prefer not to do it and if you insist, I charge $900 an hour. However looking at other online business’s is creating additional value for them will help me learn. Plus with automating I got time I can put towards this right now.

IF you are gonna give your time, make sure you got your basis covered and value your time and value others time as well.

Cheers,

Mukul

Internet Marketing has a lot of areas and you have to find area’s you are good at. One area I am not good at is email marketing, well on my older sites, on my new ones I have got better.

holiday

Regards,

Mukul

INSERT SITE

INSERT LINK

The capital is edited from my companies name and site. If you know me, I am outside the IM niche besides this blog post.

Lets look at what I did wrong here.

Error #1 – No Relationship.

This email list has been collected over the last 3-4 years and I dont ever email them, I dont send them any value and I dont have a relationship

Error #2 – No Auto Sequence

Once they have signed up, I sent them 6 days of content, then nothing. I need to expand and keep a on going relationship. Someone who signed up 2 years ago has not heard from me since that time

Error #3 – No Edu-Selling

In the email I said, its Christmas, here are ways to save money. I did not share the benefits with the customer and educate them before trying to tell them. I just said, hey look at this, not saying why they should or whats in it for them.

Error #4 – Lefts Affiliate Link

I did not even switch the CJ affiliate link to a tiny URL or pretty link. Soo sad, I just left it and it looks like a viru s link.

I am sure there is a lot more errors I made, if you got experience in email marketing and want to share your feedback, please do.

So I know how to build a email list, but the value not in having a list, it is what you do with the list.

Cheers,

Mukul

Having competition is not bad, having a lack of demand is.

I got many competitors in everything I do, I just have to make sure I can do it better then most of them

Your competition, often bigger players can build awareness to your market and is indirectly free advertisement. You just need to know how to run your business better, the fact that you are reading this, shows you know a lot more then I did my first 4 years in business and are ahead of most people.

Demand, you can spend a lot of time and money trying to create a new industry or market. However you need to have deep pockets, very deep. What you want is a proven model where people who are really buying what you have to offer (note – With the latest business, I looked to create a new market, but its because if there was no financial gain for a while, it was all good).

Do you want lots of traffic? I see this where people are like well I want 200,000 visitors a month to my website like you have. My first question to them – Is there 200,ooo people who are demanding what you want? The market I have 200,000 visitors a month has several million people searching a month for it online and yes there is demand, as well hundreds of competitors.

I have another website that I would NEVER be able to get that demand too. Why? The demand for the market is not there. Actually I could, but it would take a lot more work then I want to put in it. The market I was referring to in marketing online for the personal development live seminar niche, which I would say similar to Internet Marketing is not a HUGE HUGE demand market compared to other markets online outside there niches. Shocker, let me prove it!!!!

For the doubter, Warrior Forum, the BIGGEST Internet Marketing hub has less then 400,000 members and many come in and go. So can I get 200,000 visitors a month in this niche, it would he harder to get that and sustain it longer term, if you did any of my training is to sustain it. I like ways that will sustain traffic, not short term. Also keep in mind, I am not willing to work as hard as other folks who can get more.

You can build a sustainable business off 10,000 visitors a month or 20,000 visitors a month. I am not saying stay away from this niche (I would say until you have success online outside IM, you should not be training someone else – that is another story).

Do not fear the competition and really understand how big your market is. If you look at the big players, like Warrior Forum (I use this since many people reading this will be in this market and we all know it) and they are that size after 10 HARD YEARS of work, dont expect to duplicate them overnight or get close to that big.

After thought comment

So now reading this post a second time (A quick edit – I know my writing not that great, but the content is), you may think I am turning you off the Traffic Marketing Intensive says 80,000 visitors a month, why would I get it, if I cannot get that result? The point is not that you can get it, you may get less or more, way more. The point is you understand a traffic methodology that works and many sources that I use that sustain.

Search Engine Optimization is very easy, it is just lots of constant work (this is where you outsource ).

There are 2 types of SEO

- Onsite is 20% – optimize new pages (title, tags, description) for keywords

- Offisite is 80% - building links

Search Engine Optimization really is broken down3 parts. It is more complicated then this, do this better then anyone else, you will get first place on the search engine.

Part 1 – Constant Quality Content

If you are constantly putting quality content that people are searching for, this will help your SEO a lot. You do need to optimize this content as well. Google wants you as much as you want google. They want high quality content to be at the top of the search engine.

So constantly be adding new quality content to your website.

Part 2 – Keywords

Consider this a goal, when you do quality content, know exactly what you want to be on top of google for. I prefer to make the website for go big keywords, then posts or other pages for smaller or any other keywords. Again, you need to optimize both onsite and offsite for keywords.

Part 3 – Links

At this time, Links is likely what you will help you the most. High Quality, constant backlinks. I have used over the years a few methods to link build including Kaizen SEO and Angela’s Links. You see ‘Kaizen SEO’, I just did a backlink to there site. You also want to get people to do it naturally. I did it since they got a good service that works.

If you can stick too

- High Quality Content

- High Quality Backlinks

- Including Keywords in the process

This is all SEO is at the end of the day.

Now one other thing I do, is I market in every other way possible driving traffic to my site, this has allowed me automatically build links to my site while using other methods like documents, video’s, Q/A sites etc.

Future Part 4 – Social

Google was started looking at social, however this playing a big part of your ranking may become a possible factor in the future.

Cheers,

Mukul

Today a lesson on business system leverage from Rick Dee’s.

I was sitting and listening to Rick Dee’s this weekend, I am a regular listener. Not many things I do today I did 20 years ago, but listening to Rick is one of them. I got thinking on how long does he spend to record a show, maybe I got too much time on my hands or did not like the song, here is my guess and what he does (which is BRILLIANT). If you dont know who he is, goto Rick.com

So before we start, how long do you think it takes to record a 4 hour, weekly top 40 that plays on the radio???? Maybe 1 day a week, may 6 hours or 4 hours. I am guess not even 1 hour.

Lets start by removing the commercials and you are down to 2.5 hours of music. Now he does not sit there while the songs play, he likely has a list of the songs, needs to only do the voice between the songs.

Britney Spears moves up for 4 spots to #21, now falling 3 spots is Katy Perry (play music). Katy Perry spent 2 weeks at #1 with that hit ABC and when we come back, the hot mover by Lady Gaga (insert commercial). Lady Gaga deputes on the countdown this week at #19 (play song). Rick Dee’s just did 3 lines in less then 1 minute.

Once the top 40 all the voices are done, then the editor takes it and puts in together into what we hear as the countdown. This is not far off what I train in Video Marketing Intensive about mass producing videos.

The editor will spend more time on it, but Rick likely spends an hour, may two to record a weekly top 40.

Then takes that top 40 and plays it on over 200 radio stations, I listen to it online. This is even more leverage. First he does it in 1 hour, then he sends it all over the world. Now I would suggest not to have you personally involved, but if you have to, this is the best. He is also training his son to take over when he retires.

Now American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest he has guests host that come in, so leverages more. However I find the music on Rick Dee’s is more ahead and better

This is the power of leverage in business. He is a brilliant marketer and business person.

Cheers,

Today a quick blog post on 4 basics in running a business, lets dive into the first as I have to head out soon.

Deliver Value

If your business is not creating value, I mean real value then you are not in business for long. It can be saving someone money, helping them grow there business or even enhance a person life. Help people, the more you can help, the better.

Example

- Microsoft created the operating system I am writing this on

- Gillette (a investment of Warren Buffet) created my shaver

- Peak Potentials created the education course I take

- Internet Marketing Crunch helps you in your business (okay had to throw that in, however I really hope it does)

You need to be helping people and creating real value.

Strong Team

I am realizing the power of this more and more each day. I am blessed to have the most amazing people on my team. They are great people. Now that being said, they also work very hard and I like to try to have fun along the way.

A team includes your staff, your contract worker that you give piece work too & your support team (accountants, advisors, mentors).

A tip on building a team. People who dont listen, people who dont get what you are about, people who create politics, get rid of them right away (or try to avoid hiring them). I have made this mistake before and it can impact team culture. Keep your politics to ZERO and fun level high

It is important to surround yourself with people who are smart, work hard, like to have fun and very good hearted. I am bless to have an amazing team.

Systems

strong systems

strong systems

strong systems

I cannot say how important this is, creating strong process’s is really important.

System can include a customer service manual or rules (like I have on one website, all responses must be done in 1 hour), a software or program a programmer developed or even how you take pieces and put them together.

The difference between guys who can grow big and ones who are stuck is systems.

Make Money

Last, make money. If you dont make any money, then you will be out of business. This is textbook 101, however sooo true. Have more money come in, then you are spending. Spending on training courses, adwords or marketing, whatever it is. Only spend money you have coming in.

I have built 3 strong monthly business’s online (then I have sites like this on the side). All 3 had a small investment ($700 or less) which went into 2 areas (Marketing and Structure development) and they all made that money back in pocket in 2 months. The 2nd and 3rd were funded by the first, so I did not personally add anything into it. Maybe this is a blog post on its own

Once the first 2 months have gone by and cashflow coming in, I then looked at using the money the business made to grow it. In the case of the new venture which is 1 year old in December – Daily Deal Tips it was to hire programmers to build a stronger site. Once thats built and more revenue, then into marketing and building a stronger team.

This was done in 2 months because of another basic which is really important, this is one I look at before I even start anything…

Demand

You are wasting your time if you have no demand for what you are offering. The website I talked about in Traffic Marketing Intensive (which now gets over 200,000 visitors a month even though I have not updated it from 80,000 – to be honest, this product benefits the person who buys it, so the 80K or 200K and updating does not make me much, it will make the person who purchase it and does it a lot more – 1.5 years later and all these traffic method are still strong. Most methods in that training I started years before and tested).

You need real people who want your service. I got another website that I would never get that traffic, why because the market is not big enough. Make sure that demand exists before you go out and start a new website.

Next time you are a course that promises you millions of visitors (I dont promise it, I show a method that worked for me and can work for you), run, run fast. As 1000 targeted better then 1 million who dont care about your product.

Lack of competition is not a bad thing, lack of demand is.

I hope that helps.

Cheers,

Mukul

I believe in continually educating yourself, however I even more strongly believe in a plan of action.

Here are some things I do in order to get more out of a training course. Now you do not have to goto the extreme that I do, however find what works for you.

At The Training

1. Take Notes:

This is the basics, however it is important. I dont remember things well sometimes, so I take notes, lots of them. Also when I write something down, it helps make it stick more (I find using a iPad or laptop less effective) in communicating.

2. Idea Section:

At the back of my notebook I have a idea section. I never know when in the training will a idea come to my head that I can implement in my business. I want to a training a couple weeks ago in LA and I had 118 ideas in my ‘Idea Section’. They do not have to make sense, just a point form you can come back to later.

If you are like me, you will think thats a great idea, then forget it. So this section at the back of the book is really important.

Then other basics like meeting other people, exchanging business cards, keep yourself hydrated, sleep well (some apply to in person training), ask questions etc…

After The Training

The Notes:

Read the notes immediately after the training. I also like to read them a week later and a month later. This task can sometimes take a few hours to do depending on how many notes you took. I know and its a struggle to commit to such a time intense task.

This task is important since it ingrains the learning in your head.

Most people remember a small percentage of what they have learned, however doing this will substantially increase how much you have learned.

THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP EVER

Everything to now is important, however this next step to me is the most important. I dont take training courses unless I can complete this next step.

Always have time after the training to implement. You should know the amount of allotted time to implement and take action before you sign up or take the training. I have not gone to training course as I did not have time to implement. Its a waste of time and money doing a training without putting it into action.

Some reason I tend to meet people later and I have done soo much and they have done – here is why .I did this 5 day training in LA a few weeks ago. It was very intense and I knew that. I said I will dedicate 15 to 20 hours a week to put what I learned into action. Some reason I have become the success story of courses and I give 100% the credit to this strategy.

You dont put it into action, you are wasting your time.

I know many people cannot put 15 to 20 hours in, well dedicate what you can, if I did this back in 2005, I would not have been able to put in more then 5 hours a week (I was working a job). Do what you can, I do it now since I want faster results.

The last part on this is organize yourself once you are complete the training. I use Google Docs or a spreadsheet and make a list of what I need to complete and go through them.

To Summarize

- Take Notes, Read Notes

- Have a ‘Idea Section’

- Take Action (or Dont Start)

Here is a little trick I use on all my blogs.

Goto Settings
Goto Writing

and you will see a text box near the bottom called ‘Update Services’

What this does is tell Google, Yahoo and many other sites search time you have updated a blog post and for them to come to your website to checkout it out.

Here is a complete list of Ping Compiled websites to add to the next box (feel free to copy and paste it)
